This song really got my attention. I was alerted to Madison McKenzie by her support team. This happens quite a bit here at CML and this is one of those times when the song and the artist really stand out. This is a great song and something you probably won’t expect. Check it out.
Give Me A Reason – Madison McKenzie
The first thing I like about Madison McKenzie is that she’s from the Midwest. We love our country music up in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I know the south has rightful ownership over the genre, but we love listening to America’s music up here. And once in a while we even produce a great artist. I think Madison is on her way to a great career.
The first thing you notice about Madison is her voice. It isn’t really like anything you’ll hear on country radio. It has this edge to it. Her voice really isn’t dark, but it has that kind of quality that makes it soft while still packing plenty of power. It’s really beautiful and intriguing. I think that’s one reason people will be drawn to her and to this song.
The song seems to be about a woman that is fighting with herself on whether she should move on from a guy. That’s my interpretation. You’ll have to let me know if you pull out a different meaning.
It’s a really great song. I think the melody is strong. I think the voice is amazing. Madison could be on her way to breaking through in the future to become a mainstream country artist.
