Did we miss out on this hit song?
Sometimes I wonder what the labels and management teams are thinking when they pick singles.
I know it’s gotta be really difficult.
How do you really know what’s going to be a hit and what isn’t? I guess all the time here on the blog. And it’s just a stupid blog. And I miss all the time.
But when Randy Houser released his last album, 2016’s Fired Up, there was a song on it that sounded like a hit from Day 1.
I was patiently waiting for it to be released. It never was. I had to double check to make sure I hadn’t already written about it.
I’m not sure what the plan is for this album, but if Stoney Creek put this song out I’m almost 100% sure fans would love it.
Mine Tonight – Randy Houser
How great?
It’s perfect for Randy. Obviously it’s a straight ahead love song, but it’s just so catchy. And the lyrics do have some feeling behind them.
And why wouldn’t it be a great choice for a hit? The Peach Pickers were responsible for writing this one. That trio of Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip. They’ve written so many hits the last decade…it’s unreal.
Randy nails the vocals too. It seems like the perfect fit for his style. I could see someone like Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean having a big hit with this one. But it sounds so good coming from Randy.
I just don’t know how this one has been overlooked. Maybe there is still a chance it could come out, but I don’t know.
Chart Estimate: #3
CML Points: 90/100
