Miranda LambertMiranda Lambert is only 26 years old, but she’s been a road warrior for ten years now. Since she was 17 the young star has been playing in rock and country bands while honing her skills as a performer. All along the way she was working toward her goal of becoming one of the best artists in country music history.

Miranda made it known to all the fans in the crowd that she was especially happy to finally be playing the closing show on Friday night at a big country music festival. I attended the same festival back in 2006 and Miranda played the 5pm show that afternoon. She rocked back then as fans were drawn to her intensity and passion on stage. At that time her biggest hit was Kerosene and she was armed with only an album’s worth of material.

Now, four years later, Miranda has more hit singles and two award winning albums to her credit. She was more than capable of holding her own as the headliner for this festival.

With bright lights, huge sounds, and a kick your ass attitude, Miranda rocked the stage and had the crowd loving every second of the show. The show got off to a rocking start with Miranda’s hit Kerosene. That got the crowd really fired up for the night and the energy never let up for the next 90 minutes.

A few highlights of the show included an acoustic performance from just Miranda on the stage singing Home. She mentioned that she had been on the road for 20 straight days and was looking forward to getting back home to see her family and fiance Blake Shelton. Speaking of Blake, Home became a #1 hit for him just a couple years ago. It was at Miranda’s request that he recorded the Michael Buble song and the recommendation paid off. Miranda’s version was great too. I was able to capture the moment in video.

Miranda kept the show rolling through more of her hits including her recent and biggest hit to date The House That Built Me. The crowd had their phones and lighters in the air and even sang the words right on cue as Miranda pointed the mic out to the sea of people.

The show closed with Gunpowder & Lead. Miranda kicked the fans in the face with that tune. Tons of attitude and loads of talent make Miranda a unique artist in country music. Fans are yearning for more songs like Gunpowder & Lead and it seems likely that Miranda will continue releasing songs like this.

Fans know that Miranda Lambert was influenced by Merle Haggard. To close out the show with an encore, Miranda came out and did a classic Merle Haggard song. She said she never likes to have a show without at least one tip of the hat to The Hag.

It was a great way to close out a great show. Fans left happy and with a head full of great memories.

I can’t wait to see Miranda again…
