Miranda Lambert has a new single coming out and I’m excited about the song.
This past summer I wrote about three of my favorite album cuts and Miranda’s next single was one of them. I have a feeling this one could be a great way to close out her latest award winning album.
The song is Heart Like Mineand it’s definitely a winner.
The song seems to be autobiographical for Miranda. It’s about her living life the best way she knows. Getting tattoos, smoking a cigarette or two, and having a good time while singing and performing. Jesus supposedly did a little drinking and Miranda says he’s a forgiving soul so she’s sure they’d get along just fine.
The melody in this song is what captured me the first time I heard it. The music reminds me of the groove in New Strings and that was my favorite song from the Kerosenealbum.
For a while earlier this year I had Heart Like Mine on repeat while I wrote posts for Country Music Life. The song just brought a smile to my face and made me feel alright with the choices I’ve made in the past. I’m sure I drove my girlfriend crazy playing this song over and over even though she’s a Miranda fan too.
For people like me who’ve had their share of sins over the years it’s good to realize that we aren’t all perfect. We do things that others may frown and sometimes others may get hurt, but if we keep trying each day to do the best we can we’ll be alright.
Who knows, maybe I’ll find a few people to love this heart like mine.
