AOL’s The Boot is full of a great interviews with country’s greatest artists. It’s necessary reading for any country fan.
Recently, I came across a Miranda Lambert Interview. The article is a few weeks old so Miranda Lambert was smiling at the success of her fastest rising single The House That Built Me. Today, the song has kept its perch at the top of the country charts for a second straight week. It’s become Miranda’s biggest hit up to this point in her successful yet young career.
The interesting part of the interview was the fact that Miranda…kind of stole the song from her fiance, Blake Shelton:
‘The House That Built Me
‘ was for Blake. Scott Hendricks [Blake’s producer] had given that song to Blake, and we heard it together. My reaction was just crying for two hours. He probably felt, “Just take whatever you want” because I was saying, “When I grew up, my dog …” [fake sobbing], and I was telling him all these stories. That song just does that to you. And I said, “I love this song,” and he said, “I’ve never seen anyone have a reaction to a song like that, just from first listen. Do you want that song?” And I said, “Yeah I really do want it.”
You know the rest of the story…
The entire interview is worth a read. It’s great stuff from The Boot. The question and answer right after the question about the stolen song is another good one. Miranda Lambert discusses the respect she has for Blake.
I’m sure Blake Shelton is extremely happy for Miranda. Both Blake and Miranda have had successful careers. Miranda has a platinum album and a couple gold albums. Her last two albums have won Album of the Year awards at the ACMs. Blake has racked up four gold albums and a handful of number one hits.
Up until this point, Miranda Lambert lacked a top five country hit. Her last single White Liar made it all the way to #2. Now, The House That Built Me
is at #1 for two weeks and has been Miranda’s fastest rising single to date.
It seems like Blake could tell that Miranda really connected with the song. Hopefully Blake can continue rising the charts with his current single All About Tonight.
Either way, we know that the two will continue cheering each other on as their careers continue.
