Country music has always gone in cycles. I guess it’s been that way for a few decades. Things get really country. Then things get a little pop. Then it kind of comes back around.
I guess that kind of happens in all genres of music. The lines bend and twist. It’s bound to happen as each generation looks to make its own mark. And fans are always looking for something different, but it always seems to swing back to the norm from time to time.
William Michael Morgan is proving that country fans still want country music. We’ve had a little hip hop, R&B and more in country music the last few years and it’s been fine, but WMM is bringing back straight ahead country and I love it.
Here is his next single.
Missing – William Michael Morgan
The great thing about this song (and really most of the songs William has recorded for his debut) is that it’s simple country with a good melody. It’s something you can really sing and groove along with and it doesn’t need fancy production or influences from other genres.
Country music can still be catchy and something you can tap your boots along with. I really like this song. I thought maybe they would have gone with the title track from his new album, but maybe that’s next up on the docket.
I still think this one will be a top three hit on the charts. It’s about a guy that’s been going through some stuff in life. I think it’s a breakup. He needs to go missing for awhile to kind of clear his head and get back on track.
Who hasn’t been there from time to time?
I love this one.
