Sawyer Brown went from being “the original American Idols” to country music heroes.
A few years ago at a show the leader of the band Sawyer Brown, Mark Miller proclaimed that he and his buddies were “the original American Idols”. He was joking of course, but it was somewhat true.
Mark and the guys in Sawyer Brown won $100,000 and a recording contract on the popular talent show Star Search.
They turned the win and the forthcoming popularity into instant success on the country charts in the mid and late eighties. They had a run of top ten hits that would satisfy most country artists.
According to Country’s Chatter, the Sawyer Brown boys are back on the road again with their energy-packed show.
The guys play a full list of shows each year and fans keep filling in the seats and standing in the fair fields to see them play the classics like Some Girls Do, The Boys and Me, and Café Down on the Corner.
According to the Sawyer Brown Official Website, the band has teamed up with Farm Boy and Farm Girl brand t-shirts in an effort to get some fun digs out to the fans this summer.
The promotion will coincide with the release of a new album Travelin’ Band.
It’s exciting to see new music from Sawyer Brown.
I loved their last album Mission Temple Fireworks Stand even though it received little fanfare on country radio.

The boys are still a big country draw and I’m hoping they can get another hit out of their upcoming album.
I’ll go to see these guys at any venue and I hope that next summer they’ll be riding high on their new release and playing to packed crowds everywhere.
Sawyer Brown has been my favorite band since I first heard them in 1989 (I know, I came to the party late). I can’t wait for the new album. I have them all and each one is better than the last.
I’m a huge Sawyer Brown fan, Michael. They put out great music on every album.
Great site by the way. Tons of info.
I’ve been lucky enough to see the band several times. I have now introduced my grand-daughter who is six to their music and she loves them as I do. Her name is Jorrdin and Jorrdins very favorite song by Sawyer Brown right now is “Billie does your bull dog bite.”
