He’s only 18 years old, but he’s already leaving a mark on country music.
Last year a song caught my ear. It was from a new artist on the country and pop scene.
The song was Two Black X’s and the artist was Dylan Schneider.
It looks like Dylan is working with a big time label in Interscope. I’m not entirely sure what their Nashville arm is, but it seems they’re looking to slowly introduce Dylan to the country world.
He’s put out a few songs over the last year. Here is the latest.
No Problem – Dylan Schneider
This is a clever play on words. The hook behind the song is that this guy has a “no” problem. He can’t say no to the girl he’s been spending time with. It sounds like she’s kind of stringing him along. She’s probably not ready to commit. She’s young and living life. The guy knows that he shouldn’t be falling for her. He knows that he should be telling her know when she wants to hang out.
But he just can’t say no.
Dylan fits right in with the sound of pop country today. Florida Georgia Line and Chris Lane are probably the biggest example of the sound, but there are others. There are slots on the country charts for other artists to bring in more songs like this one.
I don’t know what the plan is for breaking Dylan at country radio. So far the singles have been released only to streaming services. Maybe they’re just testing the waters for now.
I’m curious to get your thoughts on this one.
