Luke Combs is one of the good ones that country has right now.
We’re in a really cool time in country music. The influences of the 1990s are definitely having an impact at country radio with the new artists coming out.
You could say that the rock influence came on strong the last 5-10 years. And that makes sense because there was a heyday or rock music in the 1980s when the big country singers of the last decade were growing up.
But now we’re in a time when today’s new stars were listening to the country music of the ’90s. Rock had kind of went into the alternative world. I don’t hear that in country yet. But you do hear some rap influence and also some pop music that reflects acts like Maria Carey and Boyz II Men.
Anyway, here we have a new one from Luke Combs. And Luke is definitely a guy that was influence by ’90s country.

It sounds like a breakup song to me. Actually I guess it’s kind of a post-breakup song. We have a guy that’s really not over the girl yet. He’s sitting around wondering if she’s going through the same emotions. He wants to pickup the phone and make that call. Hear her voice again. Get close to her again.
Will he make the call? Will he go back to her? Or will he realize that it’s better that they’re not together anymore. After all, there was a reason that they broke up.
Another really good song from Luke Combs. Can’t wait to see how this guy’s future goes. He’s one of the good ones in country right now.
