This one popped up on Hot Country on Spotify in the last few weeks. That’s usually an indication that an artists is affiliated with one of the major labels in Nashville.
I hadn’t heard of Cale Dodds until hearing this song. I think he’s been out working on his own as an independent artist, but the reception to this song and his others around town must have been good. I think he’s been signed by Warner and they’re helping to promote this single.
Give this one a listen, but be careful because it might get stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
People Watching – Cale Dodds
This one has a fun hook. The setting is two people that are in love and they’re not afraid who knows it. They’re out on the town, kissing and hugging and the whole deal and people are watching. It kind of flips the idea of people watching on its head. Normally you might sneak out to a coffee shop or wherever and sit and watch people. But in this instance the two people are the ones being watched by others.
This is a fun song that’s not meant to do anything other than make you feel good and maybe feel like dancing a little bit. The sound is right there in line with what’s getting played on country radio right now. And that’s the kind of sound that people are loving so this one should fit right in. And Cale Dodds has a unique voice. It sounds maybe a little like Michael Ray and Parmalee, but I think he’ll find his niche.
