When you see a song title like Pink Flamingos on Wild Country on Spotify you need to listen. That’s what happened to me today and I had to check things out to see what was going on.
The singer is Erik Dylan. That’s a new name for me, but that happens fairly often on this playlist. I like the mainstream country on Hot Country, but I still like to spread my wings and check out the songs on the edge of country.
Let’s check this one out.
Pink Flamingos – Erik Dylan
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. If it was a mainstream country song I would have thought it was about kicking in the backyard drinking beer with friends amongst the pink flamingos. That would make sense with summer right in heat of things, but this one goes in a different direction.
The hook on this one is that someone has been wronged by a guy. The woman has had enough of his BS. I’m thinking that he’s been beating on her and treating her wrong. That’s obviously not right and sometimes you just need to take things into your own hands.
So the guy has now been taken care of and he’s buried in the front yard pushing up those pink flamingos. The neighbors aren’t saying anything. They know what kind of guy he was and they know the world is likely better off without him around.
This is a different song. Different sound. Different theme. I kind of like it.
What do you think?
