Usually on Wednesday we look back on an album cut that never made it as a single, but today we’re looking at a song that I just flat out missed. It was a single back in 2013, but only reached #49 on the charts. I do remember hearing this one on the radio a couple times now that I hear it again. Let’s check it out again.
Raised On It – Sam Hunt
This guy is just incredible with melody. When the chorus kicks in you feel like throwing off your shoes and running through the sand at the beach or something. I don’t know how to explain it. This guy makes music that makes you want to get up and dance.
I can see why people have been buying his record nonstop the last few months. I can’t believe this one didn’t become a hit, but it’s just so hard for new artists to break out in the music world. There are only so many slots available on the radio playlists each day and they have to play what people want to hear. The competition is incredible.
But now Sam is out there and rocking. He’s coming off back to back number ones and we just heard his next single yesterday. I think that one will be a hit.
Maybe they’ll go back and release this one again to see if it’ll go up the charts now that Sam is a little more well know. It’s happened before in country music. Believe it or not, The Other Hand by Randy Travis didn’t do well the first time.
Great summer for the summer. Just like his song “Single for the summer” by Sam Hunt. It’s going to be a hit for him
I agree, Dave.
