Rascal Flatts has a new album and it’s packed with great music.
The guys have stuck to their guns. They make the music they love. It’s not traditional country and it’s not full on pop music. The guys make music somewhere in between and they’ve found a proper home on the country charts. Fans love them by the millions and people love the songs on the band’s latest collection of tunes.
Sunday Afternoon is one of my favorite songs on the album. The song’s about a guy that is in love with a woman. He reflects on his life with her one Sunday afternoon. He thinks about the way she makes him feel so good all the time and for this exact moment he wishes he could make everything feel like this…like Sunday afternoon.
The love story lyrics in Sunday Afternoon aren’t what first attracted me to the song. And that’s usually the case with most songs. The first thing I notice about a song is the melody…the music. Sunday Afternoon has that classic sound Rascal Flatts has made famous. It’s catchy, inspiring, and uplifting in a way. I can’t put my finger on exactly what makes their music so appealing, but they have a way with sound and melody.
Sunday Afternoon, to me, is a great song from a great country band.
