Martina McBride

She’s back with a great song. Will it be a hit?

The name of the game in music is hit songs. The big songs on radio, in movies and TV shows are the things that are remembered. Sometimes albums are what’s remembered, but often they’re remembered for the hits.

Martina McBride independently released her last album. It was a collection of pop covers and it did really well even debuting at number one.

But now she’s partnered back with a big label, Nash Icon (Big Machine), and looking for some hits again. And that’s a good thing for country music because Martina McBride is a country icon and when she’s on radio it’s a good thing.

Reckless – Martina McBride

This is the kind of song that could be a hit on radio. It sounds like a song that fits right in with the sound of country radio right now. It has a melody that you can sing along with. It sounds like there is some real emotion in the song and that’s not surprising because Martina always comes through strong when she sings.

The song seems to be a little about life and a little about love. The narrator is going through all the ups and downs of life and how someone was there when help was needed the most. That’s a theme that most go through in life. We all go through a period of being reckless when we think we’re unstoppable.

I really like this song. It’s catchy. It’s powerful. I think it could become a hit, but we’ll have to see. The radio audience isn’t always welcoming to veteran artists, but when there’s a good song all the rules go out the door.

Chart Estimate: #10

CML Points: 85/100
