Rehab Talks About Country

March 27, 2011 by Dayne Shuda

A couple years ago Rehab surprised some people.

Rehab Welcome HomeThe alternative music band took one of his catchy pop kind of songs and cut a duet version with country legend Hank Williams Jr. The video became popular on CMT and other TV stations. Bartender broke Rehab into the minds of country fans. Now they’re back with a new video and song and singing about the music artist lifestyle.

Rehab is back with Talk About. One thing is for sure – you won’t hear anything else like Rehab on country radio or on CMT. The lead singer’s voice is one of kind on pop, alternative, or country radio. It sounds like he’s smoked every cigarette in the south.

But Rehab has a knack for a hook. The melody in this s0ng is catchy. The chorus is something everybody can sing along with even though it’s about something specific to Rehab’s life on the road. Not everyone can relate to that kind of life, but when the melody is catchy artists can get away with it.

There will be those in the country audience that can relate to this kind of track too. I’m picturing businessmen on the road. I’m picturing guys or women too that work away from home for long periods of time. You work hard out away from home, but spend every moment thinking about getting back to your spouse and family.

My Dad was a pilot. He was a gone a few days a week. As one of the kids I really didn’t think much of it. He was always around for everything important. I just wonder if he felt like Rehab does in this song – thinking about those back home while out on the road making a living and putting on a smile every day.
