This is a good one.
I think this one popped up on Hot Country or Wild Country on Spotify. Those are two that I keep tabs on for great new country music.
It’s kind of a cool time to be a music fan. You can watch those playlists on Spotify and discover new songs even if you don’t really listen to the radio anymore.
That’s kind of the place I’m in.
Anyway, here is a great new country song from a newcomer for us here at CML.
Right Girl Wrong Time – Jon Langston
I don’t know if we really know what streams means in terms of popularity yet in country music. But this song has over 5 million streams on Spotify. Those seem like big numbers. And it looks like Jon is still doing the independent thing. But maybe this one will get some help from a major label.
The song is a pretty sad story. The guy met a girl and fell head over heels. It seemed like things were going well. It seemed like they would be together not just for the near term, but for the long term.
And then out of nowhere it all went bad. Things just didn’t work out. Maybe it wasn’t distance. Maybe it was their personalities. Things just kind of came at them and life separated them.
That’s pretty sad. Sometimes career and love go in separate directions. It’s not easy. I don’t know if there’s a right choice either.
Pretty good song here from Jon Langston. I’ll be curious to see how this one does.
