Parmalee has been one of the pleasant surprises on country radio the last couple years. They had a breakout album with the big single Carolina. Then they followed it up with two strong singles and that’s not easy to do.
Now the big next step is coming back with another strong album. That’s not easy to do, but they have a single ready and it’s a good one. It sounds like a hit to me.
Roots – Parmalee
This is a good song. The thing that Parmalee has shown so far at this early stage in their career is the ability to put together some good melodies. I don’t know if they had a hand in writing this one, but if they did then they have the ability to write catchy songs. And even if they didn’t they have the ability to identify songs with great melodies.
Both are good traits and are a good sign for a band that might stick around awhile on country radio.
The theme in this one is life and how there are roots that kind of run throughout our lives. We can kind of change and evolve over time, but there are always things that will have an impact on our lives.
It seems to be appreciative. It seems to be a little nostalgic about the small town life. It’s vague on the small town part, but it seems to have that influence.
I like this one. It’s not a party song. It’s not a love song. It’s an introspective song that has a good groove. I think people will like it.
