Will this become Blake’s 15th number one in a row?
By my count Blake is on a roll of 14 straight number one country songs. We’re getting into elite territory with that number. I think Alabama still has the record from back in the ’80s. Blake has a few more to go to reach them, but I think we’re getting really close. The pressure is on. Here is the new single.
Sangria – Blake Shelton
I’m surprised Kenny Chesney didn’t get his hands on this one. It kind of has that island feel that Kenny has become known for over the last 15 years, but this one is also a little different. It’s a love song or more like a lust song, but you can feel the intensity in the music. You’re kind of pulled into this intense moment between two people.
There is almost this dark feeling and sound like you would hear on some adult contemporary songs from the late ’80s and early ’90s. I don’t know. It has a little bit of Richard Marx in there or something and it’s kind of cool.
You don’t really hear a song like this on country today. Blake found a good sound with this one and you have to think it will do well especially as we head into the summer months. I can imagine people rocking back and forth to this one this summer out on those hot summer nights.
What do you think about this song? Will it keep Blake rolling with number one hits?
I also just checked and Alabama had 21 straight #1 songs. Blake has a few more to go, but he’s coming close. Brad Paisley had ten in a row a few years ago. Can Blake keep it going?
