Sarah Darling is an interesting case. She’s released many great songs, but none have really made an impact on the charts. Check out her latest offering and see what you think.
Blackbird – Sarah Darling
Sarah Darling has a great country voice. It’s hard to believe she hasn’t had a hit at country radio yet. Her songs have been big hits with her small, but growing fanbase, but she hasn’t yet broken through on the national, mainstream level.
Her new release, Blackbird, is another interesting song. It’s slow. It’s emotional. The vocals are beautiful. I just don’t know if it’s the kind of song that will become a hit on the radio or even on CMT. Maybe it’s not meant to be that kind of song.
The song is Sarah’s contribution to the Linda McCartney record that was recorded as a tribute to her. The song is composed by Paul McCartney. Sarah does a great job with the record and makes it her own while still being faithful to the original.
These kinds of records are difficult to do. They often don’t have huge hits, but there have been instances where tribute songs have gone on to do well. I recall the singles released by Travis Tritt and Clint Black back in the mid-’90s as tribute to the Eagles. Those records were huge at radio and the album sold really well.
It has to be only a matter of time before Sarah Darling becomes a success at country radio. Her track record so far is strong and it just takes that one hit to really find something that works with the fans. I’m sure her hardcore fanbase is really pushing for her success. These smaller projects will keep adding up until there is that one breakthrough moment.
Then Sarah will be the big “new” artist on the scene.
