As promised, we’re looking at the brand new single from Kenny Chesney. So far Kenny has three straight number one radio singles from The Big Revival. That’s a huge success, but we’ve come to expect that from Kenny Chesney.
Can it really be that easy to keep turning out great songs? Kenny sure makes it look easy and this new one sounds like another number one hit.
Save It For A Rainy Day – Kenny Chesney
I didn’t know to expect from the title, but I was pleasantly surprised. In a way this is something I’ve said a number of times in my life especially during the summer months here in Wisconsin.
Just last Friday I looked at my wife and said that we should cut out of work early in the afternoon and hit the links for some afternoon barefoot golf. And that’s just what we did. We can save work for a rainy day.
This song is a little different in that it’s about saving thoughts of an ex-lover for a rainy day, but it’s kind of the same concept. And it’s a good outlook on life. You can’t be down on your luck all the time with your thoughts.
And I kind of like that it’s a little play with all the country songs about rain where things are bad and down and gloomy. It’s a little reminder that we like uptempo and fun songs once in a while.
As we saw on Thursday, Kenny has changed quite a bit in the last 20 years, but some things have remained the same. He’s still the same hard working guy at least from outside appearances that he was back then. He knows how to find songs and he knows how to look for ways to push and change himself so that he stays relevant.
It’s great to hear him still having success on the radio and it continues with this new song.
