Blake Shelton

This one seems to really have some backstory to it.

Blake Shelton’s life has been in the tabloids the last year or so. He went through a divorce with Miranda Lambert. Then he started a new relationship with Gwen Stefani. When you’re in high profile relationships like that people are going to pay attention, right or wrong.

Blake just released his latest album and the first single, Came Her To Forget, became a #1 hit. It seemed to have some truth behind it even though he didn’t write it. This next single seems to fit that same vein.

She’s Got A Way With Words – Blake Shelton

When I first heard this one I was kind of taken aback. I thought it was really a guy that has some sour grapes about a past relationship. He’s really laying it all out on the line about how this woman did him wrong. And he’s angry with himself for not really seeing it from the beginning.

Blake didn’t write this song, but he did pick it out for his new album. You have to think that these are real feelings coming out, but maybe we shouldn’t read too much into it. Blake has really moved into a point in his career where he’s one of the best at picking out songs that will do well on radio and that fit his style.

The song is unique. It touches on something many people go through, but it also has a great melody. It’s different and fresh, but it’s still something you can sing along to.

At this point it’s hard to bet against a Blake Shelton song not going to #1. So that’s where I peg this one.

What do you think?

Chart Estimate: #1

CML Points: 88/100
