The Brothers Osborne have been on quite the ride the last few years. They’ve been the darlings of the award shows and rightly so. They have a unique blend of modern country and traditional country. The lead singer has a deep voice that reminds longtime country listeners of Randy Travis, Trace Adkins and Josh Turner.
You might be surprised that only of their three hit singles has reached the top ten at radio.
Well, they have a new single that just came out. Will this one crack that top ten on the charts?
Shoot Me Straight – Brothers Osborne
With the singles charts the Brothers kind of remind me of Miranda Lambert a little bit. She struggled earlier in the breaking of her career to get inside the top ten. Even now her fans love her, but she still struggles to get to those upper ends of the chart.
This song from the Brothers Osborne definitely has a little different sound. There is a Southern Rock breakdown that extends this thing well into the six minute range. That’s definitely something that probably won’t be on the radio edit, but you never know. It’s pretty cool.
I think the song’s lyrics are about a breakup situation. A guy going to have a drink after getting into it. He doesn’t want to deal with any of the BS. He doesn’t want to be judged. Just shoot him straight. Break up with him and let him get to drinking.
I like this one, but I’m curious to see how far it gets on the charts.
