I love this one.
They have really become clever with their lyrics. And they kind of flip things on their head with this one. We have all these songs about country guys and city guys, but this one is about the country girl that has to deal with the city guy.

Shut Up And Fish – Maddie & Tae
The song is about a girl that has a date with a city guy. They decided that they would go fishing. She’s a country girl after all and looks forward to fishing.
But the guy has other things on his mind. He’s not much into fishing. He wants to get right down to business, but she’s giving the cold shoulder.
There are some really clever lines that how he has more than just bass on his mind. And the line about a mad hornet in an old Coke can. It’s hard to find new metaphors that aren’t overused, but that are still instantly familiar. That’s a good one.
I really don’t think there is a more country act in country music right now. I’m really excited to see Maddie & Tae having success on the radio charts. They reached #1 the first time out and made the top ten with a great followup single. I think this one will be another top five for them.
It’s really catchy. It’s fun. And it’s country. So much twang.
I’m glad that these girls have helped bust the door down for women to be played on country radio again. It was only a matter of time and the tides seem to be turning again.
