She’s one of my favorite artists today.
I’m starting to think that Brandy Clark may be the best thing going in country music right now. Major artists have had major hits with songs that Brandy has written. And Brandy has released some great music herself. She’s still looking for that breakout hit, but it could be coming soon.
Brandy just released a new album and it’s full of great, traditional country songs. Here is one of the best.
Soap Opera – Brandy Clark
The hook on this one is that we’re all stars in our own soap operas. It seems to be true in just about any location in the world, but it’s a little unique in the small towns across the US. We all know each other’s business. The gossip lines are wide open and we all know what’s going on as if we’re watching a daily soap opera on TV.
This song is also really catchy. It reminds me a little of the country music that was around in the ’80s and ’90s. It’s just got that kind of sound to it and I really like that.
And the idea of painting a picture of life has always been something that’s been around in country music. That’s something the best country singers have always done and Brandy is one of the best at taking a snapshot of modern life and writing a song about it…and it usually comes out as a unique, but traditional sounding country song.
She’s one of my favorites and I love this song.
