She’s still one of the best.
The big news from Reba McEntire was that she is releasing new music and it will be a full gospel album. She’s put out a couple songs to end the year and they fit in well with the holiday season when many people are spending time with loved ones and thinking about their faith.
I’m not too familiar with a lot of gospel music although I know that hymns have some of the best melodies in all of music. I haven’t heard this one before, but it’s really pretty.
Reba even brings in a few of her friends to help.
Softly and Tenderly – Reba McEntire
Reba is just one of the coolest people in the world. I remember her mostly as I was growing up with country music in the ’90s. She was having all kinds of hits during that decade. It was later when I realized that she had also had a huge run in the ’80s and she would go on to have a run in the ’00s while also branching out into TV and film.
I think this is a new direction for Reba, but I don’t know if that’s entirely the case. It is for the casual fan like me. So you’ll have to let me know if she’s done gospel before.
Reba brings in her daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson and her friend and follow country powerhouse Trisha Yearwood on this one. The three talented singers really do this song justice. They don’t over sing the song in anyway. They sing it about as perfect as can be. It’s really good.
