Sonia Leigh is unique.

I had the chance to see her last month in concert. She was playing a few songs with the Zac Brown Band. They played this track and the crowd seemed to really like it. There is for sure nothing else like this on radio.

And that’s a good thing.

The song is snappy. It’s catchy. And there’s plenty of attitude. This is the kind of song that can break an artist.

Sonia Leigh personifies the thing everyone is after – money. With [easyazon-link asin=”B00562Z0UC”]My Name Is Money[/easyazon-link] Sonia takes on the topic everybody thinks and talks about through their whole lives. When you listen to the song it’s hard to believe someone hasn’t written these lyrics yet. It’s great.

The song is great, but what’s really interesting about this song is Sonia’s voice. There are some people really starting to take notice. She’s raspy. She isn’t the classic singer type. Her voice sounds like it’s been held under a bottle of booze for 20 years then thrown into a wood chipper and then put in a smokehouse for 8 hours with the sausages.

And it’s beautiful.

This is a southern country rock voice. Sonia Leigh is a great artist. This is real music. It’s not manufactured. She’s the real deal and her debut single on the country charts is going to get her some attention.

Zac Brown knew what he was doing when he signed Sonia to his label. She’s a seasoned vet in the music game. And I think what’s going to be most interesting about her career is how she’ll bring together a few different genres of music. She’ll probably sell more records and tickets than some expect. Country will be her home, but she’ll bring in some pop and rock fans.

My girlfriend – who likes folk rock music – is listening to the song right now and singing along with every word.

This one is going to be a hit…maybe not in the traditional sense, but lots of people are going to be playing this song.
