Lots of folks have been waiting for this moment.
THEY’RE BACK!
I hadn’t realized how long it had been since Sugarland had put out new music.
Their last album came out in 2010.Their last single release was in 2011.
I think most people understood what was going on. After almost a decade together they needed to see if they could do some things on their own. I don’t think it was a bad breakup or anything like that. Just some time apart to spread their creative wings.
But as is the case with duos and bands sometimes, the parties bring out the best in each other. The mix is what works. They can’t quite make the same magic on their own or with other people.
I’m not saying that’s what happened, but imagine you have two people with ideas. They bounce those ideas off each other. They push each other. They tell each other to try again. They change each other’s suggestions. And the result is good.
Now take the other person out and there is nobody to push. There is nobody to make suggestions.
You can see how you can lose that magic.
Anyway, that’s a big tangent. Let’s check out this great new single.
Still The Same – Sugarland
There is almost like a U2 sound to this one. And I like it. It’s big. It’s progressive country and modern day rock. It seems to really fit Sugarland while still sounding like the next step for them. It’s not going back to the same sound. It’s new and it fits.
The song is interesting. They leave it vague enough. Most of the lyrics are probably meant to be for those that are in love. Love that’s lasted a long time. Through all types of challenges. Things change, but that love stays the same.
You can see the parallels that would be there for a professional team. It’s a great first single, a comeback single. I see it reaching the top of the charts.
