This review is a request from my wife. She heard this song, I think, on The Highway on SiriusXM. And I know she’s been listening to it on her favorites list on Spotify.
She doesn’t request that I review many songs, but once in awhile she does. And because it doesn’t happen all the time I know that it’s usually going to be a pretty cool song when she does ask.
We’ve looked at Whiskey Myers one time before way back in 2014. This band has been grinding it out for quite some time it seems.
They have a good song with this one that people seem to be really digging.
Stone – Whiskey Myers
These guys definitely have the Southern Rock thing going on. They sound like they’re from another era in rock and country and it really works for them. They’re kind of throwback while also bringing something fresh to their sound.
They certainly don’t sound like many other acts today. That’s a good thing. I can see why they have a large following.
Anyway, this song is left open for interpretation. My take on it is that we have this guy that’s kind of struggling with life. I think what’s happened is that he’s looking at the way his life has gone and he’s wondering if it’s kind of sucked the life out of him. He’s wondering if his heart has turned to stone. He’s just kind of going through the motions now.
But it could also be about losing someone or about being left by someone and how that can leave you.
You’ll have to tell me what you think of this one. I like it.
