Sugarland is always ready for something big.
Their last album got off to a huge start when the single Stuck Like Glue became a huge hit. The single propelled sales of their last album, but the second and third singles kind of stumbled a bit. Now, those songs did well, but maybe not as well as the high expectations Sugarland sets for themselves.
The duo is ready to head back to the top of the charts with their next single, Run. The song is the first single off a new album probably set for release in 2012. The song starts out small and slow, but builds into this grandiose love song. And the best part is the duo brings in Matt Nathanson for help on the lead vocals. Check it out.
Run – Sugarland with Matt Nathanson
Sugarland has always had some pop elements in their sound. They look for catchy melodies and blend in the music with songs about love, life, and all the crazy stuff that happens while we’re living. Their music touches people. It makes people happy, sad, and emotional. They’re a great duo and they’ve once again found a song that should mean something to their fans.
Run is a love song. It’s about two people that are falling in love. No matter what they do they feel like they need to be close to each other. They want to spend every minute of the day with each other. They want to run into the arms of one another.
Run is a passionate song. You can feel the emotion in the lyrics and the vocals as Matt and Jennifer sing to each other. It’s a great track with plenty of emotion and I love the way it builds throughout until it’s this huge song.
My first introduction to this track was on the radio. I’m familiar, but not too familiar with Matt and his music so I didn’t recognize that it was him on the track at first. I thought it might be Kristian on the vocals, but now I realize that it might have been awkward for the duo to sing a song like this to each other. They’re professional so I’m sure it would have been fine, but there is just this extra uniqueness to the song with Jennifer and Nathan on the vocals.
Run is a great country song. I think it will become a huge hit in 2012 and Sugarland should be right back on top where they have been for the last five or six years.
What do you think of the new song?
