Summer 2017 Country Song Playlist

June 26, 2017 by Sammy Ochoa 5 Comments

There is nothing better than listening to country music, driving down a dirt road in your truck while the sun shines. Country music has been known as many things, but it holds the title as the best music for summertime and I don’t think anyone would disagree.

Whether you listen to country music year-round or only in the summer, I’ve put together your 2017 playlist of the best country summer tunes old and new that will make you want to turn up your radio.

1. Sunburnt Lips, Luke Bryan

With lyrics like:

Tangled up in a blanket on the sand in the moonlight watchin’ that tide roll in

behind the dust is a big ol’ blue sky kinda reminds me of those blue eyes smiling back at me

just a little breeze and I’m right back there.

There’s no wonder this song comes in at number one. It gives you that beach vibe and imagery while you can still roll down any country road soaking up the sunshine.

2. Wasted Time, Keith Urban

There’s no way we could leave this Aussie out of this mixtape. He sings many songs that can make a gloomy day feel like summer but I’ve picked this one from Urban’s hits because it just gets you pumped up for a fun day out with your friends.

You cannot help but jam out with Keith as he sings:

When I think about those summer nights singing out the window on the backroads

sweet child of mine sippin’ on the locos

spark of light ain’t it funny how the best days of my life

was all that wasted time?

3. Fix A Drink, Chris Janson

You probably thought this guy’s only hit was Buy Me A Boat but he’s back with more songs you can’t get out of your head. This one is a hit I’m listening to day after day. It’s definitely a song you’ll want to listen to with your friends while your pontooning out on the lake this summer.

With lyrics like:

Say you gotta broken phone and a broken heart the boss is on your back and your truck won’t start none of your friends want to listen to Hank

well I can’t fix that but I can fix a drink.

It makes this song totally relatable.

4. Somethin’ I’m Good At, Brett Eldredge

Coming in at number four is the incredibly talented Brett Eldredge. Too many songs can get really overplayed on the radio but it’s not really a bad thing when it comes to this song. It has a great upbeat tempo and even greater lyrics.

I can’t change the world, no I can’t change a flat If you give me your heart, girl, well, you may never get it back

I got a poor sense of direction, sometimes too strong of affection for a whiskey made in Lynchburg, Tennessee

You said you’d never smile again, but oh no, here it comes would you look at that?

I finally found somethin’ I’m good at

Raise your hand if you can relate to finally doing something you’re good at because I totally can.

5. American Spirit, Thomas Rhett

Who doesn’t love a good BBQ-in’ song? This song is much slower than any of the songs on this playlist but I couldn’t leave it out!

Oh oh oh oh oh It’s in the song, baby can’t you feel it

Oh oh oh oh oh and if you can’t baby, listen to the lyrics

It’s Friday night freedom, football game

It’s proud of where you from, it’s your last name

It’s thirteen stripes and fifty stars in the wind so hold up your beer and holler if you hear it

That American spirit It’s a must listen this summer.

This song is a great description on how proud us Americans are to be from this wonderful country.

6. Think About You, Lady Antebellum

This is the newest one from Lady A! As every other song Lady A has written this one won’t disappoint either. It’s a breakup song but rather than blaming the guy/girl or sulking this one is an I don’t think about you anthem reminding them of all the good memories. It’s perfect for any car ride with your girlfriends on the way to a country festival or the beach.

An empty tank and no loose change you swore we’d make it home

It’s hard not to fall apart with a midnight broken heart

Cause I don’t think about you and me what we used to be every memory anymore.

7. If the Boot Fits, Granger Smith

Does this name sound familiar? How about Earls Dibbels Jr? This YouTube sensation has made it big time on country radio these last few years giving us songs like this one and many more. Feel free to blast this one in your truck:

I need more time with ya I wanna watch the sun rise through the pines with ya

Whoa diamonds in the sky lightning up those eyes like

Dancing in the headlights fairytale good as it gets if the boot fits.

Yee! Yee!

8. Yeah Boy, Kelsea Ballerini

Let’s get some girl power on this playlist, shall we? Kelsea Ballerini’s coming in at number eight on songs you totally want on your 2017 summer playlist. A crush worthy song with both pop and twang feels. Nonetheless this is a song you can totally jam out to with your friends.

Every song that’s playing gets me thinking about you, baby and the way you roll

So let’s put down the drop top, burn a little blacktop off of that road baby, what we waiting on?

The stars are out, the night is young If you wanna know if I wanna go and get gone

Yeah, boy!

9. Can’t Get Away From A Good Time, Logan Mize

This is one the country radio has yet to pick up and I don’t know why! I always find myself turning this song on just to sing along! This country song is all about a lucky guy but he claims it’s just his life because he can’t get away from a good time. It’s all about hanging out with your friends and just having a good time without any drama and I think that’s what life should be all about.

Follows me around where ever I go, just like the wake behind my old bass boat

one minute I’m just hanging around, next thing you know a damn party breaks out

Hey I’m just a victim of a circumstance, I’ve learned to make it all apart of my plans

It don’t matter how hard I try, I just can’t get away from a good time.

10. River Bank, Brad Paisley

I searched long and hard on what the last song would be and I chose from contenders such as Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. But coming in at number ten is none other than Brad Paisley. It was difficult to pick one of his hits but I had to pick River Bank because of the cool sound, the summer vibe and this music video is anything but normal but I think that’s what makes it good.

Well, I won 2 dollars on a scratch-off ticket

So I went back to the counter and I bought 2 more with it

We got an inner tube we got a trailer hitch we’re near the river and far from rich

But we have got each other and gas in the tank

We’re laughing all the way to the river bank.

I hope you have found at least one new song you can put on your Ipod this summer. Of course, there are so many more country songs that are perfect for your 2017 summer, these are just some of the best. We’ll see what next year brings us until then have a great summer and keep listening to country music.
