Sunny Sweeney is a great new country voice.
Sunny has a different sound in country music. Her voice seems worn and weathered a bit. Her personality thus far on her singles seems to be broken in by heartbreak and frustration. With her last single Sunny found the top ten. Now she’s looking to keep the momentum going with next single release.
Staying’s Worse Than Leaving is another song about love and the difficulties of some relationships. Sometimes relationships are bad for both sides if they stay together. Sometimes it’s best to realize staying together leads to worse pain in the long run than the short term pain you feel from leaving.
I thought this was a really fresh way to look at relationships. I can’t think of any song that’s covered the heartbreak of breaking up in this way. There have been songs about leaving and how it’s better than trying to work it out, but this track has a fresh sound. The music in the song has a great mix of old school traditional country with some newer undertones of harsh guitars and effects.
Staying’s Worse Than Leaving is a fresh song on country radio and I’m sure fans will call in to request this all summer long. With any person there is bound to be a situation where a decision needs to be made on staying or leaving. In Sunny Sweeney’s case she knew the best decision for her was to get out before things got too bad.
This song is a hit.
