This one is pretty cool.
Here’s another first timer for us here at CML. But I’m sure that this artist has been working on their craft for many years leading up to this new release.
Shelby Darrall is the artist and her new song is Swim. I have a little soft spot for songs that have a simple title. This one obviously fits that bill.
Anyway, there is a lot to like about this one. Definitely some country elements, but also some other signs of inspiration, which is always cool.

The first thing that crossed my mind was Colbie Callait. And I like Colbie’s music so that’s a good thing. It just has a little softness to it. And it also has that country and pop mix going on. Kind of like the soft sounds of singer-songwriters from the ’70s, but with a little more modern sound.
I’m not really sure what the song is about. I’ll have to listen through a few more times. I think we have a woman that’s kind of looking for the perfect guy or for the perfect life. But it sounds like she’s struggling to find it. Maybe perfect really isn’t something that can be found. Maybe it’s a little bit of a myth.
The melodies are really good on this one. The chorus had me singing along after just a few listens.
There seems to be some depth to this one. I always like that. I like a song that makes you discover something new with each listen.
