If you’re a defender of traditional country music you’ll want to stop reading right now.
Thomas Rhett is coming off five straight number one hits on the country radio chart. His last single, Die A Happy Man, has been spending endless weeks at the #1 spot and has become the biggest hit in Thomas’ short career and one of the biggest hits of the last several years.
Now it’s time for the followup and it’s a good one. Thomas has shown that he’s not afraid of bending the constraints of what country music is and he’s doing it again with this one.

For what it’s worth, this has been one of my wife’s favorite songs the last few months. She will sing and dance along to this one and I think that’s the whole appeal of this song. It’s fun. It’s sexy. It’s nothing too deep on the emotional scale, but it doesn’t need to be.
Not every song needs to reach down and cure the soul. It’s okay for songs to be fun while making you want to dance and have a good time.
I don’t really know how to characterize this one and that’s probably a good thing for Thomas Rhett. He’s kind of coming into his own with this album and really pushed past the boundaries. Traditional country folks probably won’t like it, but the success is an indicator that many people are loving the music that Thomas is making.
I think this will be a hit. Thomas is bringing new people to country music and that’s a good thing for everyone involved.
I also like the timely mention of Guns ‘N Roses. It’s nice that this was released shortly before that band is getting back together.
