Alright, if you have sensitive ears for curse words then you’ll want to skip ahead to the next article.
But the reality is that many people have curse words and vulgar as part of their lives. And when music represents who you are and it’s sincere then it’s real.
And people are probably going to relate to it themselves. That’s one cool thing with music. It can bring people together and make them feel like they’re not the only ones going through what they’re going through.
FJ Outlaw is a new artist for us here at CML. We have looked at other country artists with rapping influences and that’s where this one falls.
Take You Down – FJ Outlaw
Small town values. Small town troubles. It’s small town life.
That’s what this song is about. And that’s really what a lot of country music is about. Small towns. Rural life. A certain kind of value set.
FJ Outlaw seems to really be speaking his truth in this one. Struggles with growing up. Being called names and being told that what he felt about his music was a joke and that no one would relate to it.
But the cool thing is that many people to get it. Many people are feeling the same things as he is. They’re living the same life. They may have had the same struggles growing up and the same good times.
And you know what?
This song has a really good groove and beat. It works. It’s not for everybody, but it works.
