Ok, please don’t make fun of me, but I’ve had Taylor Swift’s new song stuck in my head the last couple days. I don’t know what it is with this song, but it’s catchy and I can’t stop hearing it. The girl is magic with catchy melodies and she’s done it again.
Anyway, I was watching the new video released this last week and I noticed something interesting.
I’m not sure if there are any cutaways…
Taylor Swift – We Are Never Every Getting Back Together (Video)
Do you see any cuts?
I don’t know. Maybe there are some tricks involved in the video. The settings certainly change throughout the video, but on more than a couple of occasions you’ll see Taylor running somewhere. It’s almost like she’s sprinting to get in place for the next setting.
Now, I could be crazy and I’m probably stretching, but that’s pretty cool. I know it’s hard work to never cutaway in a video. There are probably some crazy things directors can do these days with cuts, but I’m still curious.
One of my favorite movies ever – Goodfellas – was famous for having a really long scene. In fact, the direct, Martin Scorcese, has had a few long scenes in his movies including one of Tom Cruise running the table in a game of pool.
Tom had to practice for months to get that good in preparation for that one scene. That’s crazy commitment.
I’m not sure if that’s what Taylor was doing here, but nevertheless it’s an impressive and entertaining video.
