This weekend I drove back through Western Wisconsin on my way to visit my folks. The drive is pretty flat so it’s kind of boring, but I like that because you can kind of get in the zone and just enjoy the music on the radio. And there is a great classic country radio station that you can get on that stretch.
The station is B 104.9 The Legends Of Country. I love it every time I drive that stretch. I tune it in and never change the channel. You get all kinds of great artists including plenty of songs from today’s artist, Tracy Lawrence.
Tracy has been one of my favorite artists for a long time. Back when he was one of the biggest artists on the charts I was just starting to really get into country music. I loved the classic sound that was on the radio back in the early ’90s and Tracy certainly could have been a star in any decade in country music. He has that voice that kind of breaks through any time barriers and makes you want to listen.
Tracy’s biggest album (I think) was Alibis. It was his sophomore album and it really vaulted him into superstar status. You can count on your two hands the number of country albums that have featured four number one singles. There aren’t that many, but this album featured four singles (the only four from the record) that went to the top spot including the title track.
It’s just a great song that sounds as good today as it did back then. Every time it’s on the radio it makes me smile thinking about all the great music Tracy has put out over the years including today. His new album is great.
