It’s Thursday so we’re looking back on a song that was a favorite maybe a few years ago. This one was released as a single in 1997. That was around the time I was really getting into country music. I would watch CMT all the time and I would listen to the radio all the time.
The ’90s is kind of when I came up on country music so the artists from that era are always at the top of my favorites lists and that includes Pam Tillis.
Back then I was right around becoming a teenager so I didn’t always know what Pam’s songs were about because I hadn’t experienced much yet in life, but I knew the songs sounded good and I knew Pam was communicating a powerful emotion.
One of my favorites and one of many people’s favorites was All The Good Ones Are Gone. It’s told from the perspective of a young woman who is probably getting into her 20s or 30s. She’s still single and probably dating a few guys and that kind of thing.
All her friends have someone and people are kind of wondering when this woman will settle down and find someone. But she doesn’t want to just settle for the sake of settling. It’s not that easy. You have to hold out hope that you find the right one.
It’s a real emotion and Pam does an incredible job of singing this song as she did with so many others.
We have Pandora on our TV at home. When I’m making something in the kitchen I’ll turn it on Quick Mix and one of the stations in Pam Tillis. I hear this song this morning and had to share my thoughts. It’s a country classic.

Beautifully interpreted Pam… Super performance!
She’s one of my favorites, Roger 🙂
