Pat Green Carry On

It only reached #35 on the charts, but it lead to bigger things for Pat Green.

It looks like it was 2001 and that makes a lot of sense.

Back then I was sixteen and I would make my own mix CDs to play while I was doing homework or during my drive to and from work.

Back then I had about a 20 minute drive each way to and from work so it allowed for some good listening. Then when I got to work I could listen to headphones and the radio for most of the day.

And in the mornings when I would get ready for work I would watch CMT for 20 minutes or so while eating breakfast.

I remember that at some point the video for Carry On came on and it really blew me away.

The singer was Pat Green and he seemed to not really be new to what he was doing, but he was new to the mainstream country audience.

It turned out that Pat was from down in Texas where he was very successful and it just took a while for the mainstream world to catch on to what he was doing.

I remember that Carry On quickly became one of my favorite songs at the time. I would play it over and over and probably bought that album, Three Days, and the next few of Pat’s albums.

I haven’t really heard this song in a long time. It’s incredibly catchy and just as good today as it was back then. I’m probably a little nostalgic because of the time in my life when this came out, but that’s how hits work.

We’re looking at this today because tomorrow we have a new song and video from Pat, but for today enjoy this throwback to 2001.

I’ve subscribed to the newsletter for some time now. It’s great… They used to periodically (weekly) list the Top 20 or Top 25 Songs. I don’t ever see that any more. Any chance it’ll come back or an I find it elsewhere? It was very convenient having the top country songs emailed to me each week.

Hi Greg – Glad you like the newsletter. We did stop the Top 25 list a couple months ago. If there’s enough interest perhaps we can bring it back. No immediate plans, though, but knowing that people liked it…maybe we can bring it back sometime in the future. Thanks!

Any idea where I can find this video now? I was actually at the concert when he filmed it and even made it into the video twice! I was just 18 years old. I’d love like to have a copy for myself but can’t even find it at all now.
