Today we’re going back to 2008 when Joey + Rory made waves on CMT’s Can You Duet. The couple became favorites on the show and won the hearts of country fans all over.
The couple had the sweetest video for trying to get on the show:
That video is still something special. I hope that one stays on YouTube for a while. I think the one I remember was uploaded by someone else.
Anyway, Joey + Rory won the hearts of many and their first single became their biggest hit during their career.
Cheater, Cheater is a really catchy and fun song. It’s about cheating, obviously, but takes on a fun approach to the subject in the lyrics and in the style. If you’re not tapping along and singing with the words then you must not have a pulse.
It’s just a great country song in the style that you don’t really hear anymore. And that’s too bad. If you’ve followed Joey + Rory over the last several years since the first single you know that they’re old school both in their live and in their career.
I really like that. It’s a life well lived from the outside and they’re willing to share it with others.
It’s too bad that Cheater, Cheater only reached #30 on the charts. I know country fans loved it much more than that. But I guess we could look at it in another way too in that it’s great that two old souls could reach the top 30 on the chart in a time when you have to be very new school to have success.
We’ll have another song from Joey + Rory tomorrow, but until then we’ll go back to 2008 for this fun country song.
