We’re going back about 20 years for this week’s Throwback Thursday song. It’s from one of country’s biggest all-time artists: Toby Keith. Starting in 1993, Toby Keith had a really strong run of hit songs. Throughout the ’90s he was one of the top artists when it came to hits and big selling albums, but he never really got the recognition back then.
Then in the ’00s, Toby became probably the biggest artist of the decade fighting it out with Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and a few others. But I would put Toby’s numbers up there with anybody. But we’re going back to to the mid-’90s for this one and one of my all-time favorite Toby songs.
Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You – Toby Keith
How great is this song?
This was back when Toby’s record label was shuffling things around. Toby kept getting shuffled around. It was almost like they didn’t want him, but they had to keep him on some kind of label because every one of his singles kept reaching the top three and every album kept selling gold or platinum.
Looking back now it’s easy to see that Toby is one of the greatest country stars ever. And I wouldn’t bet against him in the future. I would say that halftime is just getting over in Toby’s career. He seems to still want it and I’m sure he’ll keep on going and trying new things.
