It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been over six years since Lady Antebellum first came out on the radio. I remember very vividly that this group came out of nowhere and quickly became one of the biggest acts in Nashville.
The first song was Love Don’t Live Here. There was nothing like it on country radio at the time and people really responded. It seemed like just about every country fan was a fan of the song. And I remember going to the local country fest here in Eau Claire, WI and one of my buddies said he really liked the song. And he wasn’t even a country fan.
It’s a credit to the group that they were able to create this new sound. All three were working hard to make something of themselves and their combined talents made for something special. And the really cool thing was that they were writing all their music. And they still write most or all of it today, which is now a handful of albums later.
When it comes to the modern country music sound I don’t think you have to look much farther than this song. It’s got this really catchy groove that just keeps on rolling and rolling. You can’t really get off the ride as you nod your head back and forth and sing along with the lyrics.
I think it’s one of those songs that could have a really long life on country radio. You’ll hear this one being played twenty years from now. It’s one of my favorites.
