Hope in your time machines. We’re going back about a dozen years to 2002.
Earlier this week we looked at Blake’s brand new single. That was about 25 singles or more ago and Blake has come along way.
Actually, back in 2002, Blake was a rising star showing a lot of promise. His first album produced a huge hit and another big hit that people were really digging.
Then Blake came out with The Baby to kick things off on his sophomore record. The single became Blake’s second number one single. The track seemed to connect with people. It’s about the baby in the family and the various situations they go through in life.
I’m sure the babies of the families out there connected with it, but I think most people could relate to the situations in the song even if you weren’t the baby. I’m the oldest and I remember liking this song. I could think about my baby brother and the things I said and did to him just like in the song.
The interesting thing about this song was that it kind of jumpstarted Blake’s career again. But after this he released three more singles that didn’t really do the best on the charts. A couple went into the top 40 and one made it into the top 25.
Then Blake came back again with another number one hit and today he’s one of the most consistent artists out there racking up big hit after big hit.
And I think this song gets lost sometimes in his catalog. That happens when you have so many hits. But I think this is still a good one and that’s why we’re looking back on it today.
