Here’s a Chris Young hit from four years ago.
This is kind of a scary Throwback Thursday for me. We’re at the point now where we can safely throwback to songs that have already been reviewed here on CML. Yikes. It’s crazy that the site has been up for more than four years now. It’s been great and I love it and I’m glad you keep coming back to read the posts.
Today’s throwback song is one of the big hits Chris Young had four years ago around this time. We just looked at the new Chris Young single and it sounds like another surefire hit.
The interesting thing about the song Voices was that it wasn’t a hit the first time it was released. I think the song peaked around #40 on the charts or something like that. It wasn’t until Chris had a hit with Gettin’ You Home that he started to build momentum. Then he put Voices back out and it became his third straight number on hit.
That was a turning point for Chris. He had been having only top 40 singles or so on the charts. He was on his second album and if he didn’t have a hit he was looking at the end of a career. I’m glad things have worked out and now he’s really killing it as one of the few traditional country artists out there today.
And we’ll always have this song, which still has a great message and a great melody.

I sure do. It is one of my favorite songs for sure. I especially love that many of Chris’s family members were in this video including his Parents and Grandparents. This is truly a keeper <3
