Definitely a sentiment I can relate to. I like staying in most nights.
Here is a new act that sent their new EP over for me to check out.
I like listening to new independent acts. I think back just one or two decades back and think that it wasn’t really possible to have access to independent music.
It had to be really expensive to record music even just a short time ago. Then there was the issue of getting the music out there for people to listen to. It wasn’t easy to get CDs or tapes to people everywhere in the world.
But with YouTube, Spotify and others you can quickly reach people. Or at least have the potential to.
Anyway, let’s check out the first track on this new EP.
Tennessee Honey – RF Donovan
I’ve listened to this one about a handful of times now. With the first listen I wasn’t sure, but the more I listened the more I started noticing little things that I really liked.
This one has elements of what would be a hit song for artists on today’s country radio. The first one that comes to mind is Blake Shelton. He’s kind of made his hay in recent years on simple love songs like this one. They may seem silly, but people love them. Sweet and sincere.
The two folks of RF Donovan do a good job. Lots of good melody and some good production. A little electric guitar solo throw in there for some good measure. It sounds like something that fits perfectly with today’s country. And I like it.
Have you heard of RF Donovan? What are your thoughts on this song?
