A new song and a new level for these guys?
I thought that Dan + Shay’s last single was going to be a winner. But something happened on that one and it kind of floundered on the charts and we’ll probably never hear it again.
But these guys have something unique. They really remind me of Rascal Flatts. And those guys were the biggest act in country music there for about 5-7 years.
Will Dan + Shay reach that level? This new song could be the start of something good…
Tequila – Dan + Shay
The first thing you’ll probably always find with Dan + Shay is the sound. Soft. Pop. Smooth. It’s a different sound than you get. It’s that Rascal Flatts or even Restless Heart type of sound. It’s a good groove.
But with this song there is some depth. Strip away most of the production and this is really a stone cold country song. The lyrics tell the story of a guy that’s broken from a girl. We don’t get the whole story on what happened or anything like that.
Mostly he’s over her. Mostly he gets through the days and the weeks without her. But when he takes a shot of tequila he gets those memories. That must have been their drink. Maybe it’s what they were drinking when they first met.
This is a good song. The background vocals are really good. Kind of sounds like Nicolle Galyon, but I’m not sure. It’s a really good song.
I’ll jump out and predict #1 on this one, but you never know. You’ll have to let me know what you think.
