Just a great song that deserves a chance.
I guess it’s been about seven or so years since Brooks & Dunn decided to work on some solo stuff.
There might have been a little need for space after about twenty years together. I think I remember reading that they were kind of running out of things to say with their music together.
And that makes sense.
They’ve continued to perform once in awhile together. And Ronnie has really been out there working hard on his solo career.
He had a top ten the first time out in 2011, but since then it’s been a struggle. His latest album is really good. But the first three singles haven’t cracked the top 30.
Will this next one make it higher?
That’s Why They Make Jack Daniels – Ronnie Dunn
I think this one has a chance at today’s country radio. It seems like it’s already been getting some good attention in the country world. With fans and with radio personnel.
The song is already in the 50s on the chart. I think there seems to be some juice, some buzz around it. That could be a great thing.
A big part of the reason is the song itself. It’s a sad country song. That’s something that every country listener from every generation can connect with. We’ve all had our hearts broken. We’ve all felt pain. We’ve all had loss. We’ve all needed something to help us get to the next day, the next hour, the next minute.
Is that the best way to deal with it? Maybe not, but we’re talking about survival here. Just moving forward the best we can.
And Ronnie sounds as good as ever. This one should be a hit.
Chart Estimate: #20
