Here’s a song I’ve been hearing on AOL Radio the last few weeks. It’s one that’s stood out. I think part of the appeal is that it has a classic country sound. It’s a story song that really has an interesting hook and the artist, Homer Hart, has a traditionalist sound. I really like it and I wanted to share it with you.
The Good Drugs – Homer Hart
The hook in the song is that there are different kinds of drugs in life. The story starts out with an older man being offered some modern drugs that will get him high. Who knows what the kids are doing these days. It seems like all kinds of pills and chemicals are out there making kids kind of crazy.
But the man in the song turns them down and smiles and thinks about a different kind of drug. He thinks about how he was raised and how those things that made him the man that he is today are the drugs that he really cherished.
There is so much more to life than getting high. It’s the experiences with family and friends that make the difference. Even when those experiences aren’t all good they shape the person you turn into and if you have the right perspective you recognize the positives in that.
Great song here from a country newcomer. I bet this song could surprise this year and maybe put Homer on the right track to modern country success.
