So after looking at the most common words in country songs in 2013 I had to go back 20 years and compare.
Here again are the rules:
Here’s the criteria:
1. I used the number one songs on both the Billboard Hot Country Songs and the Billboard Country Airplay Songs.
2. Each number one was only counted once.
3. The top 50 words are listed.
Let’s check it out.
This one is pretty classic country.“Baby” is still up there. That was the number one term in 2013. It’s still pretty big back in 1993, but you can see that “love” is the winner.
What does that say about life these days?
I don’t know.
It’s “baby” today and it was “love” back then. But “love” was still up there in 2013. It was in the top five.
“Heart” was kind of surprising. That wasn’t on the 2013 list.
“Wind” is the one that surprised me. Not really sure what was going on back then.
“Night” and “tonight” are big ones in both eras. I guess country singers like things that take place at night.
So there you have it.
What do you think?
