Hank Williams Jr. has a new album out. He’s on a new label (Big Machine) and the album has been pretty popular. The first single, a Neil Young cover with Eric Church, has gotten some play on country radio. It’s all a big deal for a country artist getting into his later sixties.
But it’s no surprise that Hank Jr. is still popular in 2016. Once he found his voice in the late ’70s he dove in with full force and has been doing it his way ever since. And his fans have been loving him the entire time. Here is another new song from his new album.
Those Days Are Gone – Hank Williams Jr.
Hank has always had a knack for pushing things just one notch further with the lyrics he sings. He’s been the same way with the sounds he creates on records. While 99% of artists play within the lines, Hank was always willing to be part of the 1% that liked to push the limits.
And that comes through on this record. It’s definitely a throwback and that’s obviously what the song is about. It might seem like Hank is coming off a little like the old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn, but he still finds a way to make his sentiment catchy and irresistible.
And he knows that there are folks out there that feel the same way. They like their country music bleeding with soul and steel guitars.
Hank seems inspired on this record and he created some good songs including this one.
