He’s still got it.
Lee Parnell had a really solid run of hits in the ’90s. He actually missed on the first four singles, but then things really took off.
Would labels today wait that long for a new artist to find their voice? I think part of it is the fact that margins are so thin today that labels need more of a sure thing.
And artists can probably find their ways by releasing music on their own. They can go right to the people.
Anyway, Lee Roy has a new album out right now and I thought we could check out the single.
Tied Up And Tangled – Lee Roy Parnell
It’s classic Lee Roy. That guitar is blazing. His voice sounds as good as ever. And the backup singers are nailing it throughout this one. It kind of slowly builds to the end where things really breakdown and you’re feeling a little tired.
The song, I think, is about a guy that’s feeling ready to go. Ready to have a romantic night with his lady. Maybe he’s ready to hit the town and dance. Maybe he’s ready to just spend the night in.
Whatever is going on he’s bouncing off the walls and he’s hoping he can get his woman in the same mood. He’s tied up and tangled and ready to go.
It’s a good song. And I have to check out the full album. I’m sure there are some more gems to discover on this one.
Lee Roy is one of the best of all time in country. He has a great style that’s unique in country.
